Eatons Hill Presbyterian Church, a.k.a. Freshchurch recently turned 3! Launched as a church plant at the beginning of 2007, people have come together from all sorts of backgrounds, including no church background at all! And what a time it has been for this new church on Brisbane’s northside. We’re family-friendly with a focus on clear, Christ centred bible teaching. During our first 2 years, we’ve been building relationships with one another and with our community. We’re keen to welcome you on any Sunday morning. We’ve got plenty happening for the kids, and our service is easy to understand.

‘Growing followers of Jesus’ is our motto. This means we want to be growing as followers of Jesus, while we play our part in growing new followers of Jesus. But how do we actually get there? How to we go about this? We’ve recently adopted four words that together state the process for us.

CONNECT – First step – connecting to our community, connecting to God and connecting with each other in relationship.
LEARN – Second step – learning from the bible and discovering together what it says about God, Us and the World.
SERVE – Third step – being active in our service towards each other, the community and the wider world.
GROW – all for purpose of growing as followers of Jesus

These four words shape how we do church – all for our great passion – that we grow as followers of Jesus, as we help in the process of growing NEW followers of Jesus.

When you come along on a Sunday, you may notice that things are fairly relaxed – but we want to be vibrant in the way we do things. Those up front aim to speak in a clear, simple way that gets rid of all the religious jargon. There’s no one person up the front doing everything – it’s about different people serving together.

These sort of freshchurch distinctives are no accident. They come from our core-commitments which are:

We are committed to clear, Christ-centred Bible teaching that leads to trusting in Jesus as Saviour and obeying Him as Lord (2 Tim 3:14-17, Col 4:4)

We are committed to sharing the good news that God’s Son, Jesus Christ, gave up his life for the sins of the world, and rose from death to rule the world. (1 Peter 2:24, John 3:16,36, Philippians 2:9-11.)

We are committed to engaging people outside the church with the person and claims of Jesus (1 Peter 2:11-12, 3:13-17; Col 4:5-6)

We are committed to church activity which is welcoming and understandable to newcomers (1 Cor 14:23)

We are committed to praying to God our Father, in dependence on his rule over all things, and we seek to pray according to His will. (Rom 8:15-16, Matt 6:10, 1 John 5:14-15)

We are committed to developing the fruits of God’s Spirit, setting our minds on what his Spirit desires, and seeking the gifts of the Spirit that are good for building up the church. (Gal 5:22-26, Romans 8:5, 1 Cor 14:12)

We are committed to practical love, demonstrated in the way we care well for all age groups within our church family. (1 Tim 5:1-4)

We are committed to serving together, generously using the gifts, abilities and resources God has given, for His glory. (Eph 4:11-13, Rom 12:6-8)

We are committed to actively encouraging those who give themselves to full-time gospel ministry, and supporting those in training for future ministry. (2 Tim 2:2, Heb 13:17)
