July 4th, 2011

On Sunday mornings at the moment we’re doing a short sermon series on Luke Gospel, Chapters 13-15 called ‘JESUS VS RELIGION”.  It’s perhaps easy to assume that Jesus is all about religion, but when you get into the actual records of his life, you soon discover that it’s religious people who consistently opposed him and in fact Jesus reserved his most harshest language for those who wanted to keep laws and rules for God.  Come along and check out why Jesus is not into religion and doesn’t want you to be religious!

Weekend Away 2011

May 20th, 2011

Eatons Hill Presbyterian Church have just had their 2011 ‘Weekend Away’.  It was held at the beautiful spot of Camp Somerset and it was a terrific weekend for adults, kids and families.  There was time to just chill out and to get to know others. There was plenty of fun activities.  And across the weekend our guest speaker, LT Hopper, gave some great talks on why we can have true joy because of Jesus Christ. If you didn’t make it along to our weekend away this year, plan to come along next year. You won’t regret it!

On the weekend of 13-15 May, Eatons Hill Presbyterian Church has their weekend away at Camp Somerset.  Our guest speaker for the weekend is LT Hopper who will be speaking  on the topic, ‘The Pursuit of Happiness’.  Besides the bible talks, there will be heaps of times to relax, have fun and get to know others at this beautiful venue which sits on 1000 acres of bush and 3km of lake frontage.  On the Sunday morning, 15 May, we will only be having one church service at Camp Somerset.  The following week we’ll be back to our normal pattern – Sundays 930am in the OSH room, Eatons Hill State School. For more information about the church weekend away contact Gemma, gemma@freshchurch.net

ChurchMyFamily

April 6th, 2011

For the last 8 weeks on Sundays as well as in our growth groups, we’ve been covering the series,  ‘churchmyfamily’  It’s been a tremendously encouraging time and sometimes very challenging!  The sermons can be found by clicking on the ‘sermons & studies’ tab at the top of this page.  To end this series, we’ve put together a summary document titled ‘ChurchMyFamily Covenant’.  This is a document that expresses the 8 churchmyfamily topics we’ve looked at and it’s an invitation to everyone at church to renew their belonging and commitment to our church family. The words of the ‘churchmyfamily covenant’ are:

Our mid-week growth groups are underway for 2011.  This year we have groups meeting on Wednesday nights, Thursday nights, Friday nights, as well as Wednesday mornings for women.  Our growth groups are the heart of relationships, serving, support and learning together at freshchurch. These groups certainly aren’t for bible experts (or those who think they are!), they’re for anyone who has a desire to grow. Our normal pattern is to go through a bible study series that matches the Sunday sermon.  In term 1 of this year, the groups are doing the series, ‘churchmyfamily’.  If you would like more information about our growth groups, you can contact garnet@freshchurch.net

New Sermon Series

February 9th, 2011

This Sunday we get underway with a new sermon series. It’s called ‘churchmyfamily‘ and it’s all about getting a focus on what church is all about. So often it’s easy to think of ‘church’ as a building, or ‘church’ as an ageing institution or ‘church’ as an event that just happens once a week. But what if church is none of these!  What if church is at the heart of God’s purposes for this world and it’s a family which exists to love each other and grow as the message of Jesus is made known. The growth group studies to go with this series can be found here.
