Throughout the first quater of 2010 at freshchurch, we’ll be looking at the New Testament book of Hebrews. This is what our mid-week growth groups will be exploring through, as well as preached on at church on Sundays. The message of Hebrews is that Christians need endurance to follow Jesus. And the way followers of Jesus can endure is to look to Jesus, know him better and realise how awesome and sufficient for all of life he is.

On Saturday 23 January, freshchurch held ‘SummeFest’ in a local park. In the afternoon there was a fun-filled kids program, followed by a laid back sausage sizzle and a movie on the big screen. It was great day for all. Only a year to wait until SummerFest 2011!

On Sunday 31 January 2010, freshchurch turns 3! This is something we think it’s worth having a party over and so come along to church a bit early (845am) and we’ll start the morning with breakfast together. We want to celebrate what God has been doing at Eatons Hill Presbyterian Chruch over the last 3 years, but during church we’re going to use the occasion to focus on where our passions and vision needs to be for the future ahead.

This coming Sunday we finish off the current series ‘Why I’m Not a Christian – Reasons for Rejecting and a Christian’s Response’. It’s been 6 weeks of looking at the problems that people have with Christianity. So far we’ve covered:
1. Christianity is Judgement: Sin & Hell. 2. Christianity is Intolerant: Homosexuality 3. Christianity is Exclusivist: Jesus is the Way 4. Christianity is Fundamentalist: The Bible. 5. Christianity is Immoral: Suffering. You can listen to any of the talks by clicking on the ‘sermons & studies’ tab above.
This week we’re covering another problem some people have with Christianity, ‘Christianity is Irrational: Science’.
Starting next week, we’ll be having a look at the Old Testament book of Joshua. Joshua is famous for it’s ‘ blood-thirstiness’. It’s definitely sure to confront us. But the big message of this book is: God is faithful to his promises and it will be his power that will accomplish salvation for his people.

Church in New Location for Sunday 18 October Only
October 7th, 2009
Since Freshchurch was started by Mitchelton Presbyterian Church almost 3 years ago, we’ve grown. Freshchurch has grown in size and people have been growing as followers of Jesus. This is wonderful and with growth comes change. On Sunday 18 October we are having a one-off combined church service with Mitchelton to celebrate the growth that God has brought, but also to hold a very important meeting. At this meeting a vote will be taken for Eatons Hill Presbyterian Church to move off and to be it’s own separate church. The intention was that Eatons Hill Presbyterian Church would always stand on its own two feet and it looks like that time has come. It’s an exciting time for us as ‘the apron strings are cut’ and Eatons Hill takes steps to keep growing and make our impact in this part of Brisbane for God.
So on Sunday 18 October, church is at Mitchelton Presbyterian Church, Ruby Road Mitchelton. 1030am. This is a momentous occasion for the church. It will be a time to give thanks. On the following Sunday and beyond, church will be at our normal location, Eatons Hill State School, 930am.
