Last weekend freshchurch was at Bribie Island for our Great Weekender. It was a time to press the ‘pause’ button on the busyness of life and spend time connecting with others and having fun together, as well as hearing some excellent bible talks from Bill Colyer on the subject of ‘Our Union with Christ’. It was a great time away and very soon some photos will be posted right here. This Sunday, church is back on at the normal spot – Eatons Hill State School, 930am. See you there.

This coming weekend, 22-24 May, is our ‘Great Weekender’ on Bribie Island.  It’s going to be a great time.  There will be plenty of time to hang out, have fun and build relationships. I’m looking forward to the ‘lifesaver olympics’ on the beach myself!  But a big part of the weekend will be some very challenging bible talks by Bill Colyer on the subject of ‘Our Union with Christ’.  As we get into the bible we’ll be getting a clearer picture of just how amazing it is to have our lives joined to Jesus. Please note: church on Sunday morning will be at the campsite on Bribie Island.  For this Sunday only, there won’t be church at Eatons Hill State School. On Sunday morning, don’t go to our normal location, but please join us for church at the special time and location of: 9am, ‘The House of Happiness’, 2 Clement Road, Woorim, Bribie Island.

At freshchurch we love our mid-week growth groups. It’s in growth groups where you can get to know others in a comfortable setting, forge friendships and explore the bible together. Growth groups are a great way to encourage each other to grow as followers of Jesus. This year we launched our first youth growth group that meets on Sunday afternoons.  This has been a great group for everyone – people get to ask their questions, learn more about God, eat food, and even play a bit of Wii! If you want to find out more, including the Term 2 program, contact Richard Uhr, richard.uhr@gmail.com

Throughout May we’ll be exploring the Old Testament book of Zechariah. The title of the series is called ‘A Beautiful Day’. Zechariah is a fairly wild, crazy part of the bible with lots of visions and strange sounding messages. But coming through loud and clear throughout it all is that God’s people are to be people of hope as we look ahead to a good day, a great day, a beautiful day, when God will put the world right and he will be in full intimate relationship with those he has saved. Join us for Church on Sunday 29 March for our ‘Invitation Sunday’. During church a presentation will be given -  ‘Who is the Real Jesus?’  These days, everyone can have their own version of Jesus – The Caring Jesus, The Suffering Jesus, The Enlightened Guru Jesus, The Healing Jesus, The Hippy Jesus. But who really was he?  On Sunday the 29th we’ll be going to the only historical source we have, the bible, to discover the real Jesus who might not quite be the man we expect.

Be part of ‘The Great Weekender’.  This year it’s on Bribie Island…ahh the sand, the surf, the sunburn. The freshchurch Great Weekender is all about taking some time out to relax and enjoy relationships in our church family. This year our guest speaker is Bill Colyer (AFES worker at QUT) who will speak on ‘Our Union with Christ’. Registrations close on Sunday 3 May.
